As the World Turns is a soap opera that ran from 1956 to 2010. The story is primarily about the Hughes and Stewart families. The show was produced and written by Irna Phillips and was one of the many Procter & Gamble soap operas. As the World Turn is also known for being the first television soap opera to air for 30 minutes instead of the normal 15. The additional time allowed for Phillips to expand the story and write about two families instead of one.
