News and Interviews

Originally radio was viewed only as a medium for entertainment and people thought the seriousness of news would not be commercially feasible on radio. CBS was active in making news viable and popular on radio. They recruited new talent to cover the latest stories and establish oversea news stations to bring international news to America. In the process of developing their news programs, CBS had built up an infrastructure that enabled CBS to easily transition their radio news programs to television. Since its foray into television, news has remained a core component of CBS television.

A significant portion of the CBS videos contains news shows and other informative programs. These programs cover the major news stories of the 1960s and 1970s including the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War and domestic issues.
