Fundamental operations

About this item

Description Analyzes modular arithmetic as an aid in understanding the principles of out own, or rational arithmetic. Through arithmetic module five, shows the closure, commutative, and identity element principles of rational arithmetic. Identifies the additional associative and distributive arithmetic principles using our own arithmetic. Demonstrates that the two fundamental operations are addition and multiplication: that subtraction and division are the inverse of these operations, and that an addition and multiplication table, limited in size by place value, are required to perform fundamental operations.
