Beauty and the Beast has a new twist set in Arabia, with beautiful marionettes in Arabian costumes. Beauty's father, a merchant, loses his wealth when all of his ships are lost at sea. News comes that one ship is coming into port and the family rejoices in the hope that their fortune is not all lost. Before leaving for the town, the Father asks his three daughters what they would have him bring them. Tigress and Euphrates, twin sisters, both ask for expensive gowns and jewels; Beauty asks only for a rose.
