Range safety and missile guidance

About this item

Description A rocket motor operates for a short time and then the missile coasts the rest of the way up and down. Once into the coasting period there is no way to change its trajectory. Stray missiles are prevented from leaving the range by stopping their motors before the burning is scheduled to end. Some missiles can be guided from the ground. Three types of guidance systems are: Command, Beam Riding, and Homing.
