BSI Publications

The BSI Press has published more than 60 volumes related to Sherlock Holmes, starting in 1948 with an edition of the story, The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle. The books have documented the life of Sherlock Holmes, his habits, and the people and places mentioned in the canon.

Other books document the publication history of the original “sacred writings” and the worldwide scholarship related to them.

In recent years, most BSI publications fall into a series. The major publishing series are:

  • History & Biography Series: The history of the Baker Street Irregulars.
  • Manuscript Series: Facsimile editions of manuscripts and other documents relating to Sherlock Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, with insightful commentary by talented Sherlockian and Doylean writers.
  • International Series: Sherlockian scholarship in English from various countries around the world. Books on Canada, Spain, Italy, Scandinavia, Australia, and Japan show the worldwide impact of Sherlock Holmes.
  • Professions Series: Professions as represented in the canon. Currently includes two books, focusing respectively on law and medicine.
  • Event & Expedition Books: Papers presented at special BSI events and conferences.
