Louisa Wylie Boisen’s Mental Photographs Journal

Title

Louisa Wylie Boisen’s Mental Photographs Journal

Description

Published in 1870, this journal, titled Mental Photographs: An Album for Confessions of Tastes, Habits, and Convictions, was gifted to Louisa Boisen. When Louisa chose to write in the journal remains unclear. Notice that in response to question 36, “What is you dream?” Louisa wrote, “Home.” Whether this referred to the Wylie House cannot be known, but throughout her life, Louisa often happily returned to her supportive, loving parents and childhood home, eventually residing here after the death of her husband, Hermann.
