On July 14, 1875, Susan Emma Dennis wrote in her diary, “Lou very sick all night we thought at times we would lose her. Her little babe was born about six o’clock but was dead. The Prof [Hermann] & Prof Atwater buried it in the afternoon a little after five o’clock. Mrs Bell, Fee & McCalla were here also Lizzie Hunter & Mrs Murphy”
