Seabrook's Three Youngest Children, Samuel, Reba, and Laurence Wylie

Title

Seabrook's Three Youngest Children, Samuel, Reba, and Laurence Wylie

Description

Samuel Brown Wylie, Seabrook's second child, was born at the Wylie House on March 2, 1882. Rebecca (or Reba) was born on September 21, 1884, also at the Wylie home. Lawrence Seabrook was born on May 17, 1887, after the family had relocated to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Here, the Wylie family experienced financial instability. Seeing herself as a major cause of the couple’s debt, in 1890, Seabrook found employment “overseeing the domestic parts” of St. Luke’s School in Bustleton, Pennsylvania. Seabrook's younger children, Samuel, Reba, and Lawrence, returned to Bloomington, so that they could be cared for by their grandmother. Meanwhile in Pennsylvania, Seabrook continued to look after her eldest son, Theo, notably absent from the photo. Likely, this photo was taken during that period.
