Description

Appliqued tulip quilt; overall white with alternate blocks bearing a large pink tulip and short green stem with two green leaves; border consists of a wide pink strip, then a white strip of the same width; at each corner is a pink square; the pink and white border strips and squares are pieced, not appliqued; hem is machine stitched; quilting is done by hand in concentric squares on the plain blocks, and following the outside of the tulip on the appliqued squares; borders are quilted in small squares; plain white cotton backing. Typical of pastel quilts popular in this period.
