Pieced "Star"-pattern quilt Main vertical pattern is three rows of four 8-armed Lemoyne-type stars which touch at their adjoining arm points; white background. The red and white diamond-shaped pieces that make up the stars are arranged in an open pattern. A solid outer white strip and a solid inner red strip make up the all-around border; while on the long sides, red-and-white-diamond-checked parallelograms that touch the outermost star arm points and each other add further border interest. Hand-quilted in a pattern of squares, overlapping circles, and chevrons. Quilt is all cotton.
Notes
The date range primarily based on the generalization that solid reds are most prevalent between 1850 and 1875.
