Wylie House Museum Quilters

The Wylie House Museum Quilters are a group of volunteers who have contributed their time and expertise to producing entirely hand-sewn and hand-quilted reproduction quilts for the Wylie House Museum collection. Groups of quilters have been meeting at Wylie House Museum since 1992 to produce these beautiful works of textile art.

The reproduction quilts are invaluable educational tools for the museum. They are incorporated into the display rotation within the museum, sparing our more fragile, antique quilts from frequent handling. They also give an impression of the vibrant colors that would have been on display in quilts from the 19th century before they faded to the more muted tones that we associate with antique textiles today.

Beyond the beautiful quilts that they produce, the Wylie House Museum Quilters help to foster a valuable sense of community. Interested visitors can see their current quilting project on display in the Morton C. Bradley, Jr. Education Center.

Below are a selection of quilts made by the Wylie House Museum Quilters. Some reproduce antique quilts from the Wylie House Museum collection, others take inspiration from popular designs of the 19th century.
