Biographical Text
Andrew Wylie, Jr., was born in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania, in 1814. He graduated from Indiana College (now IU) in 1832. He practiced law in Pittsburgh and served on the Pittsburgh City Council. In 1863, he was appointed associate justice of the U. S. District of Columbia Court by Abraham Lincoln; he held that position from 1864 to 1885. He lived to age ninety-one and was buried in Washington, D.C., in 1905.
