Andrew & Margaret Wylie Family

Andrew Wylie, the first president of Indiana University, built the Wylie House in 1835 and lived there with his wife, Margaret, and their children until his death in 1851. Margaret died 8 years later, in 1859.

Children

In 1829, Andrew and Margaret Wylie moved to Bloomington with their nine children so that Andrew could assume his new duties as the first president of Indiana College. They moved into the Wylie House (now with two additional children) in 1835. Their youngest child, Jane, was born in the house in 1836.

Grandchildren

Andrew and Margaret had over 30 grandchildren. The 13 included here most likely either stayed in or visited the Wylie House before it went to the Theophilus Wylie family.
