Dear Mr. Lugar,
The Shortridge Chapter of Quill and Scroll, an honorary for high school journalists, would like to thank you for accepting the invitation to be our guest speaker for the initiation services.
The initiation will be Thursday, December 9, at 7:30 in the Shortridge library. Quill and Scroll chapters from other city high schools have been invited; the initiates, their parents and the present members of Quill and Scroll will be attending. There will be an initiation ceremony preceding your talk.
In light of the school board's decision concerning the future of Shortridge, we are sure that this topic will be of interest to those who attend the initiation. However, the format of your talk will be entirely up to you. For publicity purposes we would appreciate if you would let us know the topic or title of your talk as soon as possible. During school hours you may contact Mrs. Sally Earl in the Echo office, [phone number omitted].
