The Collections: Sheet Music
Sheet music is contained in several named collections. Individual collections are described below. The online database, IN Harmony: Sheet Music from Indiana: Lilly Library, is the first place to check for sheet music in the Lilly Library.
- IN Harmony: Sheet Music from Indiana: Lilly Library
- Search some of the holdings from the Lilly Library's approximately 150,000 pieces of sheet music, including those for which there are digitized images available. Part of a collaboration between four Indiana collections.
- The database includes all the sheet music in the Sam DeVincent Collection of American Sheet Music and a small proportion of the Starr Sheet Music Collection. Both collections are described below.
- Sam DeVincent Collection of American Sheet Music
- The Sam DeVincent Collection of American Sheet Music contains approximately 24,000 pieces of sheet music, songbooks, and folios. DeVincent arranged his collection into categories based on either personal names of musicians or performers or on subjects he defined that were as diverse as the American Red Cross and Halloween. The Lilly Library has maintained this arrangement. Read more about the collection.
- All the sheet music in the DeVincent collection is listed in the IN Harmony: Sheet Music from Indiana: Lilly Library web site. Digitized images are available for some items.
- Starr Sheet Music Collection
- The Starr Sheet Music Collection contains more than 100,000 pieces of sheet music arranged in three categories. There is no database listing items in this collection.
