Theater transmission: Brief introduction by Peter Gelb. Backstage scene changes were shown. At intermission Renee Fleming interviewed Anna Netrebko, Roberto Alagna and conductor Placido Domingo. There was also a taped segment from opening night with Dessay in the mad scene from Lucia and shots of Times Square and Met plaza audiences. The Met reported a worldwide audience of 97,000 on 600 screens and a box office gross of 1.65 million. Of all feature films shown in the U.S that weekend the Met's Romeo and Juliet would have placed 11th.
