NBC originally planned on eight minutes of Parsifal but last minute time constraints cut the length of the segment in half. The portion aired consisted of Dave Garroway interviewing cast member Barbara Lockard (Kundry), and two brief excerpts from Act I. Later in the evening the Indiana University Opera Theater staged a full production of Parsifal for the annual meeting of the MENC (Music Educators National Conference.)
