Description

Clifton E. Taylor born 1924, died 1945. Killed in action at Iwo Jima. Montgomery listed in her ledger that this grave was in Spencer, but upon further research was found to be in Methodist Cemetery in Ellettsville. According to Taylor's obituary, he was the first man to take hold of the flag when the marines started to raise it on Mount Suribachi.
