"This series was selected from 64 programs produced by WOI-TV, Iowa State College in an attempt to select the top teachers and scholars from throughout the nation. The original Center series included programs 7 through 12, featuring Dr. Walter W. Heller. However, only 12 programs are included in this rerun of the series: six programs featuring Dr. Irving Lee, former professor of public speaking at Northwestern University, discussing problems of communication between individuals in terms of making sense; and six programs featuring TV Smith, famous philosopher and scholar and professor of philosophy at Syracuse University, discussing imagination in religion, art, politics and science. Please note that Dr. Lee died in the spring of 1955."
