About this item
Description |
The Holland family’s trek across the country is beautifully chronicled in this 1944 home movie. The film begins with the beautiful snow covered mountains and thickly forested hills of Yellowstone National Park. Philip films his family and others admiring the landscape. The Hollands visit Yellowstone attractions such a Fountain Paint Pot, Mud Volcano, and Dragon’s Mouth Spring. We also get a glimpse of Yellowstone’s canyons, mountains, and lakes. The children take off their shoes and wade up to their knees in the lake. The family has a snowball fight in the middle of summer. While driving through the park, the Hollands cross paths with a bison who slowly wanders down the road. After Yellowstone, the Hollands visit Mt. Rushmore. Philip gets a expansive shot of Mt. Rushmore and the surrounding mountains, as well as close up shots of each carved president. George and Nancy pose with their father in his uniform at the scenic overlook. The film ends with Nancy playing cowgirl on a fake bucking bronco. (Description written by IULMIA staff) |
